Simple Cleaning Recipes

 GREEN HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS AND MORE!

There are many advantages to making your own cleaning products. It costs less than store brands, it's better for the environment, and better for your family. I know my kids cannot handle the smell of all those harsh chemicals. Not too mention what it does to your body breathing those fumes in. So try one of the recipes and let me know what you think!

Stain Removers

Recipe #1
1 Cup hot water
½ Cup baking soda
½ Cup Hydrogen Peroxide
Mix all ingredients together and store in a spray bottle. Spot treat stains and soak overnight.
DO NOT USE WITH BLEACH


Recipe #2
2 Quarts water
½ Cup ammonia
2Tbs laundry detergent
Mix all ingredients together and store in a spray bottle. Spot treat stains and soak overnight.
DO NOT USE WITH BLEACH


Recipe #3
½ Cup white vinegar
½ Cup ammonia
½ Cup liquid detergent
½ Cup Water
Mix all ingredients together and store in a spray bottle. Spot treat stains and soak overnight.
DO NOT USE WITH BLEACH

Fabric Softener

1 Cup Vinegar
1 Cup Baking Soda
2 Cups Hot Water
Mix baking soda with water until dissolved in a large pail. Add vinegar, a fizzing reaction will occur, once it has settle place in a clean bottle. Shake before each use.

Dryer Sheets

4 Tbs liquid fabric softener
10 Tbs water
Place mixture in a sealable container with old washcloth, sponge or leftover fabric to absorb, squeeze to remove access liquid and place in dryer with laundry. The thicker the material the more washes it may be used for. Do not use a colored fabric softener.  


Baby Wipes

4 Cups boiling water
4 Tbs Baby bath
4 Tbs baby lotion
Mix liquids together and pour equal amounts into two airtight containers. Place paper towel roll that has been cut into halves into containers and gently shake. Once paper towels are saturated remove cardboard tubes.

Foaming Hand Soap

Plain
2/3 Cup water
3 Tbs liquid soap (any brand)
Mix together and pour into empty foaming hand soap container.

Fancy  
1 Cup warm water
3 Tbs liquid Castile soap
1 Tsp pure glycerin (you can get at CVS or Walgreens)
1 Tsp almond oil
Mix all ingredients and place in an empty foaming hand soap container.


Carpet Deodorizers

Recipe #2
6 Cups baking soda
3 Cups dried Lavender buds
1 Cup cornstarch
Mix well and store in an airtight container. Set aside for a couple of days then sprinkle generously on carpets. Wait one hour before vacuuming.

Recipe #4
6 Cups baking soda
1 Cup cornstarch
Assorted Essential Oils (do not use too much)
Mix ingredients together, let sit for 2 days before use.

Household Cleaners

Recipe #1
A few drops of natural Soap
2 Cups water
1-2 Drops Tea Tree Oil
1-2 Drops Lavender Oil
Mix together and place in a clean spray bottle. Can be used on all surfaces but will streak glass.

Recipe #2
2 ½ Cups water
1 Handful Thyme
2 Tbs Vinegar
1 Squeeze liquid soap
Boil water add Thyme simmer over medium heat for several hours. Let cool, then strain, pour into a spray bottle and add final ingredients.

Recipe #3
1 Cup water
1 Cup vinegar
2 Tsp Castile soap
2-5 drops lemon, orange or tea tree oil
Place all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake.


Soft Scrub
Baking Soda
Water
Combine ingredients, add enough water to make a paste and put in a squirt top bottle.

Microwave Cleaner
Bowl of water
Squeeze of Lemon Juice
Place lemon into bowl of water and put in the microwave. Heat on high for 2  minutes, steam will clean the microwave and simply wipe clean.

Toilet Cleaner
Sprinkle baking soda and lemon juice into the toilet, let set, scrub with toilet brush.


Window Cleaner

2 cups water
3 Tbs vinegar
Place in a spray bottle and shake.


Drain Cleaner

1 Cup Vinegar
1 Cup baking soda
Pour into drain and let sit 10 minutes. Flush with teapot of boiling water.


Oven Cleaner

Baking soda
Water
Dish detergent
Spray oven with water, sprinkle baking soda generously in oven. Leave over night, wipe out oven with sponge soaked in water and dish detergent.
