Home Spa Treatments - Part 1

It is really hard as a mom to take time to pamper ourselves. Trips to the spa become a thing of the past to remember fondly. We wish we had time for the luxury of facials, massages, manicures and pedicures. While it is difficult to give yourself a massage, you can give yourself a mini facial to freshen up your skin. This will be a 2 part series. The first will focus on what oils to use for your home spa treatments. The second will focus on scrub recipes.
Read about the benefits of my 3 favorite oils below and choose the right one for you. Most of these oils will not go rancid and are hypoallergenic.


Emu oil is my favorite oil. I use it on my hands every night instead of lotion and I cannot believe the difference it makes. Emu oil is proven to be anti-inflammatory, which helps with muscle aches and joint pain and contains Vitamin E, which is a healing agent and antioxidant.  Emu oil repairs skin damage, including scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks because it contains skin cell re generators. This oil is fantastic and you can find it at your local organic store.


Jojoba oil is not only excellent for your hair but it is good for your skin. Jojoba oil is used to nourish and moisturize skin. It is helps with eczema, psoriasis and is used to maintain skin elasticity.


Grapeseed oil is another excellent choice as it has the same antioxidants as tea and berries. The oil helps with production of collagen which is an anti-aging benefit. For acne sufferers, grapeseed can be used to help clear up your skin.
All of these oils can be found at your local organic store. Quality affects the benefits so make sure you use higher quality oil and try to use organic if you can. 
So, take a few minutes for yourself tonight and make a homemade scrub. Try them in the bath or shower and you will love how your skin feels. Just make sure to lock the door and turn the music up.
